Chairmen of the World Korean Associations, Please upgrade national status of the Republic of Korea!

- 2010 Convention of Chairmen of the World Korean Associations will be held for four days from June 15, 2010

 

- About 400 heads of Korean Associations of 76 countries participate and it is the biggest number of participating countries.

 

- Intensive discussion of plans to increase the national status, global Korean network  business and etc

 

Chairmen of the world Korean Associations will discuss face-to-face in order to find out plans to increase the national status of the Republic of Korea.

 

Overseas Koreans Foundation (OKF, President, Young-Kon Kwon) has announced that OKF hosts 2010 Convention of Chairmen of the World Korean associations for four days from June 15 to June 18, 2010 with participation of about 400 people from 76 countries while they travel between Seoul and Hoingseong of Gangwon-Do.

 

Convention of Chairmen of Korean Associations is a venue of exchange in which representatives of over 700 Korean Associations scattered in 114 countries of the entire world gather in one place in order to discuss common matters of interests such as establishment of identity as Koreans, election system of overseas Koreans, education of next generation, improvement of human rights and etc and also is the most representative and large-scale convention among meetings of leaders of overseas Koreans.

 

In the convention of this year which will be held as the 11th meeting under the slogan of  Bigger Republic of Korea, Bigger Koreans of the World, we will have meaningful time to upgrade pride of chairmen of Korean Associations of each country of the world and to explore roles of Korean societies for enhancing the national status of the Republic of Korea with the opening of G20 Seoul Summit’ as a turning momentum. 

 

In particular, since the convention in this year is planning to prepare driving engine for increasing human rights of overseas Koreans and for the national development through explanation of Global Korean Network (Hereinafter called as 'GKN') business which is the biggest national project of Overseas Koreans Foundation (OKF), it attracts attention of various sectors.

 

Besides, progressing status of election system of overseas Koreans which will be enforced from next year will be discussed and hot debate on problems and plans of improvement will be carried out too.

 

President, Young-Kon Kwon said he wishes that a foundation can be prepared for Korean Associations to link between overseas Koreans societies and the motherland and to publicize Korean Associations as organizations contributing to increase of solidarity and alliance through this convention and also a foundation for mutual development can be established through this.

 

On the other hand, in this convention, Federation Chairman Hae-Myung Chung of Oceanic Korean Associations and Federation Chairman Jung-Gil Park of Asia Middle East Korean Associations have taken the position of joint chairman and representative leaders of overseas Koreans including Federation Chairman Mun-Ki Nam of American Korean Associations, Federation Chairman Jin Chung of Central HQs of Korean Residents in Japan, Federation Chairman Eun-Ho Song of Asian Korean Associations, Association Chairman Hyo-Kwon Chung of Koreans in China, Federation Chairman Geun-Ha Kim of Canadian Korean Associations, Federation Chairman Young-Su Lee of Central and South American Korean Associations and etc will work as members of operation committee.
