THE 15TH FUTURE LEADERS’ CONFERENCE
OPEN INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATION
A. Introduction
The Overseas Koreans Foundation (called ‘OKF’ hereinafter) is a non-profit organization, affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Korea. It supports 7.2 millions overseas Koreans by creating a global link called ‘HanMinJok Network’ with its purpose of promoting communication between Koreans living in Korea and overseas. In its 15 years of existence and experiences, OKF is holding a conference with highly influential guests who are dedicating themselves in developing Korean communities. Through this conference, we hope to invite future leaders in the various areas such as politics, economy, etc., so that we can promote growth and strengthen overseas Korean society.
The Future Leaders' Conference will be held in Seoul from 2 to 5 in Oct., 2012. There are about 100 highly influential guests who will be gathered to share their experiences and knowledge. The OKF hopes to attract your interests in this event.
B. Program Outline
1. Title: The 15th Future Leaders’ Conference
2. Purpose: Promote network and mentorship between future leaders in politics, economy, and other professions through interchanging knowledge and information.
3. Date: 2012.10.2(Tue)-10.5(Fri)
Check-In: 2012.10.2(Tue) 14:00, Check-Out: 2012.10.6(Sat) 12:00
4. Venue: Seoul
Accommodation: Grand Hilton Seoul (located in Hongeun-dong, Seoul)
5. Main Events
Speeches by local/international guests
Forums and lectures in various subjects
Visits to governmental organizations and offices
Networking between local Koreans and Korean overseas
Press activities and interviews towards major and local publications.
C. Criteria & Selection
1. Qualifications
① Age between 25-40 years old, Koreans living overseas with a foreign residency or citizenship, have been out of the country for more than 10 years.
② A person who is recommended by the Korean Embassy because he/she fulfills purpose of this event and can devote himself/herself to the development of Korean community overseas
2. Major Field
① Those engaged in the field of legal, major press & media, politics, economy and international organization, cultural and art.
② Those demonstrated expertise in the field of natural resource, energy, high-tech industry, green-industry (environment, ecology etc.).
③ Executives or directors of outstanding regional community organizations or those represent the organization of the next generation.
④ Those considered to be appropriate to this event based on his/her professional career and experiences.
Note: Those who have participated in this event in the past three years (2009-2011) are not eligible to apply this year.
3. Registration
Submit or return required documents including the application with the following personal statement to the Korean Embassy or Consulate General in the applicant’s country.
Add statements or submit letters of recommendation by ambassador or legations abroad in the applicant’s country.
4. Evaluation Criteria
① The organization's local/international reputation which applicant belongs to (including press exposure, major achievements, or merits of recognition from the government).
② Social statement, potential, and career field of applicant.
③ Executive director or leader of the Next generation group/professionals organization which concerns networking among Koreans contributing for the growth of Korean communities.
④ Existing influence or potential contribution to Korean society overseas to better improvement.
D. Documents for Submission
1. Registration form
① Application form with personal statement
② Resume
③ A copy of passport
④ Employment certificate or other identification document to prove applicant’s position.
⑤ If applicable, copy of media release, merits, and recognition and award granted
2. Deadline (must be submitted in Korea Standard Time)
① Due: 2012.5.18 (Fri.) 18:00. Please meet the deadline.
② Submissions will be done through the Korean Embassy or Consulate General in applicant’s country. No personal mail or fax will be accepted.
3. Announcement of the finalists: not later than 2012.6.1(Fri.) (Tentative)
E. Support
1. Flight fare
Economy class, 50% of return flight ticket
Economy class, 100% of return flight ticket (only for participants from Russia, CIS region)
Note: Flight fare incurred by personal travel will not included
2. Accommodations and meals (personal expenses are not included)
One room for two people (additional charges will incur if a single room is desired)
