Diverse events will be held in celebration of the Korean Day

- The 6th World Korean Day at COEX on October 5.

- KBS Open Concert celebrating the Korean Day at Yeouido KBS Hall on October 3.  

- The Future Leader’s Conference at Grand Hilton Hotel on October 2~5.

 

According to the Overseas Korean Foundation, in celebration of the Korean Day on October 5, the 6th Anniversary of the Korean Day, KBS Open Concert and 2012 Future Leader’s Conference will be held. 

 

- In order to enlighten the importance of 7.2 million overseas Koreans and to promote a sense of pride as the Korean race to overseas Koreans, Korean government established October 5 as the Korean Day in 2007.   

 

 On October 5, the 6th Anniversary of World Korean Day hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and arranged by Overseas Koreans Foundation will be celebrated at Coex Auditorium at Samsungdong, Seoul. 

  

- Under the slogan, ‘Joining the World Korean, A Heart-Throbbing Fatherland Korea’, around 800 people such as the prime minister Kim Hwang-sik, a congressman Kim Seong-gon from Democratic united party, a congressman Shim Yun-jo from Saenuri party, etc, including overseas Koreans will attend the ceremony.     

 

- In the ceremony, prizes and medals will be given to 12 overseas Koreans of national merit including the late Mr. Kang Yeong-wu who served as Political Assistance Secretary in the White House and Mr. Yu Jae-keun who served as senior advisor in the Korean Residents Union in Japan. 

 

Before the ceremony, KBS open concert celebrating the Korean Day will be held at KBS hall located at Yeouido on Oct 3. Including a pianist Seo Hye-gyeong, the country’s top singers such as Shim Su-bong, Group Buhwal, Jeong In, Heo Gak, etc, have been prepared for the concert. 

 

And, 2012 Future Leader’s Conference will be held at Grand Hilton Hotel located at Hongeundong, Seoul on October 2-5. This is the 15th conference since it started. More than 100 future leaders from 22 countries have been invited and they will have the time to discuss a way to promote network among them.   

 

The head director of Overseas Koreans Foundation Kim Kyung-keun said, “The Korean Day is a meaningful day when overseas Koreans get together for solidifying the harmony. We hope all the people welcome overseas Koreans with warm heart.”
