Busan has been chosen to be the host of the World Korean Business Convention in 2014.

- Hong Myung-ki, the chairman of the Dura Coat Group, has been appointed as the president of the 12th World Korean Business Convention in Gwangju in 2013

 

At the 22nd session of the steering committee for The World Korean Business Convention held at Kim Dae Jung convention center in Gwangju on Apr. 22, hosted by Overseas Koreans Foundation(President, Kim Kyung-keun), Busan has been chosen to be the host of the 13th World Korean Business Convention in 2014. 

 

After the presentation of Lee Young-hwal who is the deputy mayor for economic affairs of the Busan city government that solely made a bid for the 2014 World Korean Business Convention, all 29 members of the steering committee agreed that Busan completed preparations for the World Korean Business convention and decided Busan as the host of the next convention.

 

Since Busan city has already hosted the world Korean business convention three times in 2006, 2007 and 2011, it will become the only city to have hosted it four times in 2014.(Seoul hosted it three times, Jeju twice and Gyeonggi, Incheon, Daegu and Gwangju respectively once.)   

 

Kim Kyung-keun, the president of the steering committee for The World Korean Business Convention and the president of Overseas Koreans Foundation, said “Busan is excellent in understanding Hansang and its convention because they have experienced in hosting the conventions already. We hope that Busan will do its best to make our next convention very successful.”

Lee Young-hwal, the deputy mayor for economic affairs of the Busan city government, said, “By successfully hosting it three times already, Busan has had a special bond with Hansang so that it could be called the city of Hansang. Busan is the city that has been proved to be the best venue for international conferences. We will give every possible support to it.”

 

Meanwhile, at this session, Hong Myung-ki, the chairman of the Dura Coat Group, has been appointed as the president of the 12th World Korean Business Convention in Gwangju in 2013. He is a representative man of Hansang who has led Dura Coat Group which is a world-wide company producing special paints, whose headquarters are located in California, USA and annual sales are approximately $200 million.
