「2016 OKF UCC Contest」 Notice

  Overseas Koreans Foundation (OKF) is a government-funded institution under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was founded according to Overseas Koreans Foundation Act in order to help Koreans overseas keep in touch with their heritage and become model citizens in their countries.

  The Foundation is hosting the 2016 OKF UCC Contest in order to raise interest in Korean diaspora community and develop a sense of one community with shared heritage.

1. UCC Entries
  ㅇ Eligible works : any user-created content video that can improve understanding of the overseas Korean communities
   - Examples of topics:
    ① Unification and overseas Koreans
    ② Proud Koreans overseas
    ③ Overseas Koreans in histosry (legacy, interviews)
    ④ Shedding light on overseas Koreans’ love for Korea
    ⑤ Day to day life of a Korean living overseas
    ⑥ Other content related to the Korean diaspora community

  ㅇ Format
   - Format : Documentary, news reports, film, campaign, parody, usic video, animation, etc.
   - Resolution : 640 * 480 pixels or above
   - Length and size : 3-7 minutes, maximum 1,000MB
   - File types : WMV, MPEG, AVI

2. How to enter 
  ㅇ When?
   - Accepting applications : Wednesday, March 9, 2016 – Sunday, July 31
   - Accepting UCC products : Monday, August 1 – Wednesday, August 31
  ㅇ How? : Submit online at www.korean.net
    ※ All deadlines are 18:00 KST

3. Who can apply
  ㅇ A Korean national or an overseas Korean who is a member of www.korean.net
   - For a group entry (up to 3 members), all participants must meet the above criteria.
   - Once selected, it must be able to be used on korean.net website and for the Foundation’s works.

4. Selection criteria and details
  ㅇ Selection criteria
   - Creativity (of idea, expression, and sparking interest)
   - Appropriateness (a topic and message appropriate to raising understanding of the overseas Korean community)
   - Reliability (accuracy of statistics, figures, data, etc.)
   - Quality (planning, construction, editing, techniques)
  ㅇ Details
   - Examinaton committee : 4 outside experts on overseas Koreans, 2 Foundation staff
   - Preliminary examinaiton : September
   - Examination : October

5. Announcement and awarding ceremony
  ㅇ The final decision will be announced on www.korean.net and awardees will be notified individually sometime
       in September 2016.
  ㅇ Award categories:
   - Grand First Prize (1) : Award certificate signed by OKF chairman and scholarship of KRW 2,000,000.
   - Excellence (2) : Award certificate signed by OKF chairman and scholarship of KRW 1,500,000.
   - Encouragement (5) : Award certificate signed by OKF chairman and scholarship of KRW 700,000.
  ㅇ Award ceremony : TBA

6. Notice
  ㅇ Some or all awards may not be given if there are no qualifying entries.
  ㅇ Copyrights (moral rights and property rights) of all entries belong to the applicant (creator). However, property rights
     (rights to reproduction, performance, public transmission, display, distribution, and derivative works) shall be assigned
     to Foundation via agreement with the author. In this case, appropriate compensation will be made with a monetary
     prize.
  ㅇ Changes or modifications to winning entries may be made or requested if necessary for the purposes of its use by
     the hosting parties.
  ㅇ If a winning entry becomes involved in copyright disputes regarding images, video footage, sounds, and others,
     the award will be canceled and the prize money returned. All legal responsibilities lie with the entrant.
