On Wednesday, May 22, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS, Minister OH Youngju) jointly organized a public-private conference with Shinhan Bank at the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry to support SMEs and startups' global expansion (Vietnam).

The event, jointly organized by the public and private sectors, is the first of its kind and is aimed at supporting the overseas expansion of SMEs and startups. Vietnam, a country with a high demand for overseas expansion among Korean SMEs, has been selected for the inaugural event.

Public agencies such as the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), along with private institutions like Shinhan Bank, as well as law and accounting firms, participated in the event. The seminars aimed to provide information on the local market and economic trends in Vietnam, as well as legal, accounting, financial, and investment aspects related to entering the Vietnamese market, leveraging the expertise of each institution. Additionally, one-on-one consultations were conducted at booths set up by each institution.

In particular, the Embassy of Vietnam in South Korea participated in this event, providing guidance on support measures offered by the Vietnamese government for companies venturing into Vietnam. In addition, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City explained the support content for SMEs and startups among overseas missions and elaborated on the future operation of the Ho Chi Minh City Consulate General SME and Startups Support Committee.

Minister OH Youngju emphasized the importance of the Vietnamese market, stating, "Vietnam ranks third among countries for our SME exports, accounting for approximately 9.4% of SME export revenue, making it a key market." She added, "MSS will make every effort to enhance policy effectiveness by regularly hosting public-private joint global support conferences like today's event, bringing together various support functions scattered across different institutions."

Shinhan Bank, co-host of the event, represented by CEO JUNG SangHyuk, underscored the significance of the event, stating, "This event holds great significance as it brings together public and private sectors to provide necessary information for companies' overseas expansion in one place." He added, "We hope that the companies participating in today's event will gain valuable insights through in-depth consultations."
