Korea and Cuba Agree to Establish Permanent Diplomatic Missions in Each Other’s Capitals

1. The Korean delegation headed by Mr. Song Si-Jin, Director-General for Planning and Management, visited Cuba from April 24 to 27 to discuss the establishment of permanent diplomatic missions.


2. Both sides agreed to establish their permanent diplomatic missions in each other’s capitals, and confirmed their willingness by exchanging note verbales.


3. Based on this agreement between the two countries, the Korean government will continue to communicate with the Cuban government in order to establish the Korean Embassy in Cuba in the near future. As an intermediate step for the opening of the embassy, the Korean government is planning to open a temporary office in Havana and dispatch diplomats.
