The nation's famous cosmetics and beauty sector throughout next month in Seoul will offer events featuring cosmetics and fashion.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 16 said it will host the 2024 Korea Beauty Festival from June 1-30 jointly with the Visit Korea Committee and Korea Tourism Organization.

The plan is to host interactive events and offer discounts on products and services by setting up zones by theme in areas frequented by foreign tourists such as Hongdae (hair and makeup), Seongsu-dong (fashion), Myeong-dong (reward events) and Gwanghwamun (health and medicine).

Some 320 participating companies will offer tailored services for such travelers and discounts on domestic beauty products.

Companies including domestic cosmetics giant Sulwhasoo and hair salon chain Park Jun Beauty Lab will also host experiential events.

In air travel, Korean Air, Asiana, Jeju Air, T'way and EastarJet will offer discounted tickets for international flights bound for Korea.

The Shilla Hotels and Resorts, Mayfield Hotel Seoul, Four Points by Sheraton Seoul, Gangnam and Paradise Casino Walkerhill will run customized accommodation packages featuring discounts exclusively for foreign tourists.

More information is available on the festival's website (koreabeautyfestival.com).

In the nation's third-largest city of Daegu, the Daegu International Beauty Expo from May 17-19 will mark its 11th edition with sideline events such as a competition for Korean nails skills and an international contest for skin care.

"We will develop the 2024 Korea Beauty Festival as core content to usher in the era of 20 million incoming tourists," Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In Chon said. "To mark the second year of Visit Korea Year, we will keep hosting an array of events such as the Korea Beauty Festival next month and Hallyu (Korean Wave) Tourism Festival in October to attract foreign tourists."
