Nat'l taekwondo team wins 7th straight Asian title in forms

The national taekwondo team has won its seventh consecutive title at the Asian Taekwondo Poomsae (Forms) Championships.


Korea earned nine gold medals to top the eighth edition of the competition that ran from May 14-15 in Da Nang, Vietnam.


In individual events on opening day, victories by Kang Wan-jin (men's under 30), Lee Jooyeong (women's under 30), Park Yong Hwa (men's under 40), Kim Hak Dong (men's under 50), Kim Ha Yeon (women's under 50), Lee Cheol Hee (men's under 60) and Kim Yeon-bu (women's under 60) gave the team seven golds.


On the second day, Yun Kyusung and Cha Ye Eun added a gold in the over-17 freestyle mixed team event and Ji Ho-yong and Jang Myung-jin another in the recognized team category for those over 30.


At the same venue, the national taekwondo sparring team from May 16 will compete at the 26th Asian Taekwondo Championships.
