Pianist Cho Seong-jin has been named the London Symphony Orchestra's (LSO) Artist Portrait for the 2025-26 season.
The Artist Portrait program spotlights one artist each season for diverse performances like those of orchestra, chamber music, solo recitals and international tours.
Cho's management agency KD Schmid said the pianist from September will begin the program with the LSO's European tour with performances of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the orchestra's chief conductor Antonio Pappano.
In November, Cho will perform a new concerto written especially for him by composer Shin Donghoon. The pianist will also play Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in February next year under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda.
Throughout the season, Cho will hold chamber music concerts and a solo recital at the LSO-run St. Luke's Cathedral.
KD Schmid said, "Seong-Jin Cho's first studio recording with the LSO was in 2016, recording Chopin's First Concerto with Noseda. Nearly a decade on —and following many intense and successful collaborations— this Artist Portrait marks a new chapter in a close and evolving partnership."
Pianist Cho Seong-jin on April 8 unveiled his plan for the LSO's Artist Portrait for Season 2025/26 on his official social media.
