The inaugural Korea-Germany Indo-Pacific Dialogue on March 10 discussed cooperation in achieving regional peace and stability.

Hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul, the talks were attended by Eui-hae Cecilia Chung, the ministry's special representative for the Indo-Pacific region, and Frank Hartmann, director general for Asia and the Pacific at the German Federal Foreign Office.

In their meeting, the two sides covered the status and challenges of the Indo-Pacific region and its interconnection with European security.

They also agreed to discuss key policy topics of both sides such as climate, the environment and cybersecurity for use in continuously seeking concrete cooperation measures.

Special Representative Chung lauded Germany's entry into the United Nations Command last year. Director General Hartmann said he confirmed the bilateral commitment to joint responses and intent to cooperate in tackling issues.

This is the latest addition to Seoul's newly launched series of Indo-Pacific dialogues following talks last year with the U.S. and Japan in January; Japan and Australia in June; and France in October. The meeting with Germany was also Korea's second of its kind with a European nation.
