More than 100 overseas Korean future leaders of will visit Korea.

- 2012 The Future Leader’s Conference will be held in Seoul on October 2.

- 106 people from 22 countries will participate in the forum and homeland experience for 4 days.

Overseas Koreans Foundation will hold ‘2012 The Future Leader’s Conference’ at Grand Hilton Hotel at Hongeundong, Seoul from Oct 2nd through 5th.   

In this conference, 106 overseas Korean future leaders from 22 countries such as Venezuela, Paraguay, etc, including USA, Japan, China, Germany and UK are going to participate.

 

- It is the 15th conference this year since it started. It is the event that invites future leaders of overseas Koreans who play an active part in the politics, the economics, the culture, the legal profession, the press, the society and the like, and has them discuss future of overseas Korean society and build network of global Korean. 

 

Those who are promising leaders in respective field such as politics, economics, legal profession, science, culture, art and the like will experience a variety of program related to Korean politics, culture and history, and discuss role of future leaders of overseas Korean for realizing global Korea.  

 

Especially, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Sung Kim will attend the opening ceremony. He will advise participants on how to assimilate into the mainstream society and encourage them.  


□ The main participants are Won Jeong-hee who was an adopted child and currently works for CBS news as a producer after working for Newsweek and Wall Street Journal, Lee Suk-ja who is a lawyer specializing in international tax law, Lee Su-jin who works for BioDigital as a chief development officer, Shin Ja-young who is a first Korean information officer of LA Prosecutor’s office, Bae Seon-hye who is a lawyer specializing in energy/mineral resources in Australia, Lee Ji-yeon who works for Lufthansa as a financial manager in Germany, Park Suk-kyeong who works for Porsche as a Asia-Pacific marketing director, Kim Min-gon who selected as a promising lawyer of Chamber & Partners in 2012 in Brazil, Kim Mi-ra who graduated in law, Asuncion National University at the top of her class in Paraguay, etc. 



Starting with an opening ceremony on October 2, they will discuss regional current issues and a measure of establishing a network among them. And after studying on emigration history, they will focus a discussion on a way of promoting the network.  

 

In addition, they will get the time to widely understand their homeland by attending celebration of the World Korean Day and KBS Open Concert and visiting the Prime Minister’s official residence. Besides, visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace and bicycling around Han River, they will experience their changed homeland.  

 

The head director of Overseas Koreans Foundation, Kim Kyungkeun said, “The oncoming generation of overseas Korean is the important manpower required for Korea to jump up to the first-rate nation. If a network among participants who already recognized as leaders in the country they live in, it will help not only for the personal development but also for realizing global Korea.”    

 

The Future Leader’s Conference is an event for establishing the foundation of the best use of overseas young Korean manpower. Those who have participated in the conference had brilliant careers. They include Rhea Suh who is an assistant secretary of the Department of the Interior, Yonah Martin who is the first Korean senator in Canada, Melissa Lee who is a congressman in New Zealand, Mark Keam who is the first Asian Virginian representative, Jun choi who was a former Mayor of Edison City in New Jersey, Sam Yun who was a member of Boston city council in Massachusetts, Gwon Yul who was a final survivor of CBS ‘Survival’ and called ‘the most powerful man in USA’, Kim Suk-hyun who is a professor of Tohoku National University and worked for the House of Representative Ichiro Ozawa as an assistant for international affairs, etc, and besides, most of them work as a leader in the mainstream society in that country.
